Why We are Socially Committed

In Palestine, the youth unemployment rate is over 40 percent. Many young people are so disillusioned by the stagnant Middle East peace process, the constantly smouldering conflict, the high level of national debt, and much more, that they see absolutely no prospects for themselves. Thanks to the commitment of our AXSOS board member Frank Müller, it is possible to finance a youth officer position at the YMCA in East Jerusalem. This was intended to give young people the opportunity to create their own "freedom of thought", through a variety of activities. In out video Nicola tells about his experiences in working with the children and teenagers.

In Germany, on the other hand, we are trying with campaigns and events to create an awareness of what constitutes Palestinian culture and what moves the people there. The cinema event "Heart of Jenin", at which the moving film about ... was shown, is a good example of such an action. In addition, a Palestine Day was held in 2016, at which, among other things, that year's winner of the Global Teacher Prize spoke to a selected audience.

In cooperation with the Filmakademie Ludwigsburg, we support the exchange between film students from Germany and Palestine. Due to the difficult housing situation in Ramallah, German students receive a room free of charge in the AXSOS company apartment. You can find out more about living and studying in Palestine in the blog of the current exchange student.

But we are also active in sports sponsorship: on the one hand, as the main sponsor of Rad-Engel, a cycling team that collects donations with cycling races and, on the other hand, by being patron to the TUS Metzingen pivot, Annika Ingenpass. The promising talent is supported not only by a logo on the jersey, but is also actively involved in the work of the marketing team.

That's how our multifaceted commitment ensures that we don't get bored in our day-to-day work.
